Dear William,
My name is Jo Anne Lindsey. I was born August 22 1959. My birth name was Causey and I don't know if that was my mothers or my fathers name because I was born out of wed lock. My question to you is first do you live in Colorado and the second question is if you do live in Colorado do you have much information on the Causey families that might help me locate my birth mother or father. I was born in Denver Colorado so I am hoping to get in contact with some of the Causey people that live in my state to help me figure out this puzzle.
JoAnne

Hi. I know this is an old querry, but maybe you can help me. I too have been searching for my Indian ancestory. I remember my late father, R.F. Causey, Sr. talking about his grandmother on his mother's side being a full blooded Indian. All of the family remembers this being talked about but no one has any information on this. I am grasping at straws trying to find an answer. All of our family have the physical traits of Indian ancestory. If you have any information as to the descendants of your Indian ancestor that married a causey that I might be able to investigate, I would appreciate your sharing that with me. You may post the info or e-mail to my personal address:
"rcausey1(a)sc.rr.com".
BTW, I descend from the following:
James Causey b. 1755
Zebedee Causey b. 1780
Asa Garden Causey b. 1823
William Francis Causey b. 1855
Robert F. Causey, Sr. b. 1904
Thanks for any help.

Hey Jeannie.
I was in Cobb County GA today at Causey's Chapel photographing graves etc...
I'm wondering where your Causey fits in you're concerned about...
The Indians were removed from HERE about 1825-1832...
When the Land Grants were drawn.
Where are you from, your grparent you're speaking of and the area her people came from?

Tuesday June 5th 2007...guess who I met? and photographed today.
Israel Causey himself and his wife, Margaret Foyle Causey and several other family members.
If you'd like to have a copy or hear about the experience please contact me at: robinthackston(a)bellsouth.net
The Causey's were a bit ...dusty but nonetheless very glad to hear of my research and interest in them.
They would not reveal any secrets or answer any questions I'm sorry to say.
Also, I rode out to County Line Baptist Church in Lithia Springs GA off Lee Road and found their daughter, Mary Agnes, but I don't know which stack of rock her husband lies under, there were six or seven mounds of unmarked rock.
Both cemeteries are EXTREMELY well kept.
I would like to see a CSA marker placed for William P. Mitchell in Lithia Springs.
Wonderful day. xoR

I've never heard any stories about the Causeys that would substantiate your question. But I am most intrigued by the middle name of Powell.
In Montgomery Co. TN, I know of three marriages between Powells and Causeys.....
Eaton Powell to Mary Causey around 1829
Benjamin Eaton Powell to Nellie Causey around 1834
William C. Powell to Rhoda Causey 11 May 1837
Eaton's marriage to Mary was a second marriage and Benjamin and William were sons from his first marriage. I know there was another son and a daughter from the first marriage, and my theory is they were Balinda/Malinda Powell who married Henry Baggett and Joseph Powell (who we know was her brother) who married Rebecca Blanton. Joseph and his sister, Balinda/Malinda stayed in TN, where Benjamin and William moved to Fayette Co. IL. Rhoda Causey was the daughter of Thomas Causey and Nellie Causey was the daughter of Robert Causey, brother to Thomas. Isaac Causey who you mentioned as having a farm in Vandalia was the brother of Nellie Causey and son of Robert.
Now to really confuse the issue: there were marriages of Causeys to Bones and some of them also married Baggetts.
There was also a Thomas Causey, Jr who married a Bone and they also moved to Fayette Co. IL. Perhaps he could have been the father because both he and his father lived in Vandalia. We know this Thomas Causey moved to IL between 1846-1849 because of the birthplaces of his children.

I'm also interested in the CAUSEYS as well, particularly Issaac Causey (b. 1815 Montgomery Co.)My paternal ggg-grandmother was Dicy Baggett (born 1818 Montgomery Co., TN). She had two sons, James (b. 1843) and John (b. 1845). An old newspaper article list their father as being Thomas Baggett. However no record of Thomas exists. Family lore through the years was that James and John's father was a man named Causey. John and his son (Louis Powell Baggett)use to go visit their father/grandfather in Illinois but no-one knows where. I noticed in the 1850 census that Isaac Causey was a neighbor of Dicy's. So I'm wondering if Isaac may have been the father of James and John Baggett. I'm further intrigued since Issac had a farm near Vandalia.
I'm wondering if you ran across any stories like this in your research. If so, I would love to compare notes
