I sent this to the wrong address possibly so I'm sending it again.
Washington Jackson Causbie is my husband's great grandfather also. The 1850
census lists Ann Cosby as head of household but her husband is also listed
in the census as Josiah Cosby. Possibly, Ann's maiden name was Crunk
because of census record of 1860 of S.M. Causbie's household in Belfast,
Marshall County, Tennessee where Nancy Crunk is listed as living with him
and his family. Her age indicates a relationship with one of the two
parents. I'm going to say it was S.M.'s grandmother on his mother's side.
I am in touch with numerous members of both brothers' families and would
love to share with you.
Glad to get a bite on the list!

Subject: [CAUSBY-L] Causbie/Cosby query
My ggf, Washington Jackson (Hick) Causbie was born 21 June 1827 in
Marshall County, TN, was married to Rhoda Ellen Russell on 23 Dec 1865
in Marshall Cty, Tn and died in Ash Flat (Sharp Cty) Arkansas in Sept
1898. He moved to Sharp County after losing wife Rhoda in Tn. about
1881. He was listed as age 23 in the 1850 Marshall Cty, Tn census - Ann
Cosby was listed head of household. Brother, age 26, was Samuel Monroe
Cosby. The spelling was changed to Causbie after 1850. The problem I
have is no male name to trace in the 1850 census.
