!Joseph Causby served during the Civil War in Co H, 58th NC Reg. according
to copies of a pension application by R.A. Causby, widow of Joseph (July
30, 1913. ) This regiment was also known as Captain Jason Conley's Company
or the McDowell Rangers....5th reg. NC Partisan Rangers
According to microfilmed records of this regiment, Joseph enlisted in
Mitchell County July 18, 1862. He was born in Burke County, was a farmer,
age 26 and was 5' 7".

Obituary from Shelby Daily Star:
Julius Crosby (sic), 70, died at 8:30 Thursday night at his home near Waco.
He had been ill for several months. Mr. Crosby was a native of Cleveland
County and a prominent and successful farmer. He was a member of Mull's
Chapel near Fallston.
Funeral service will be conducted from Zion Baptist Church at 11:00 Sat.
morning by Rev. H.E. Waldrop.
Body will lie in state at the home of a brother, Joe Crosby (sic)in Double
Springs Community.
Surviving are his wife Mrs. Sallie Crosby (sic); 2 daughters, Mrs. Rebecca
Stringfellow of near Waco, and Mrs. Ola Reece of Asheville; six sons Ed,
Will, Ben and Joe Crosby (sic) all of Cleveland County, Charlies of
Spartanburg, and Noah of Ninety-Six Islands, S.C., 30 grandchildren and 4
gr-grandchildren.
