Thank you for making a newcomer feel welcome. I signed on with the hope of
getting a "back door" clue about the name of my great-great-grandmother,
Isabel COSBY JACK (4 Apr 1810-12 Apr 1860), daughter of John JACK (ca.
1770-1780 - 1847) and Mary (Polly) TAYLOR (ca. 1782 - ca. 1856). Isabel's
parents were married in Knox Co., TN on 19 Jan 1804. The JACK family moved
to Rhea Co., TN, sometime before 1819, perhaps much sooner.
Isabel (Isabella) COSBY JACK married Hazard BEAN, Jr. 25 Sept 1828 in Rhea
Co., TN and moved to Bradley Co., TN before 1850.
John and Polly JACK did not give their daughter (second known child) the name
COSBY for no good reason! I have tried to make a connection to the Major
James COSBY and wife Isabella Woods who settled in what became Hamilton Co.,
TN but have not seriously pursued this possibility. Perhaps someone knows
the missing pieces of this puzzle.
Looking forward to reading this list. .
.and maybe an answer! Sandy
