Some of you all must share with me a common Cosby ancestor, John Cosby
1741-1827, whose father was David Cosby 1705-1770 and whose son was
Overton Cosby 1772-1815. John married a Sarah or Susannah Wingfield, and
I have a copy of an old Cosby History manuscript that says she was his
cousin. Now, next thing is that Weis in his "Ancestral Roots" mentions
Wingfields twice. First, a Sir Robert Wingfield married Elizabeth
Goushill (b. 1401/1414)and had a daughter Elizabeth Wingfield who married
before 1462 a Sir William Brandon. Second, a Michael de la Pole (d.
1389), first Earl of Suffolk, had a wife named Katherine Wingfield, who
was daughter and heiress of a Sir John Wingfield, also of Suffolk.
Katherine has dates of about 1415-1488. My question is does anybody have
any connecting links for the Wingfields between the 1400s and the 1700s?
This is a long time, but maybe somebody has something.
