CHARLES CAUSBY
HENDERSONVILLE - Charles "Charlie" Carroll Causby, 60, died Thursday, Aug.
24, 2000, at Pardee Hospital after an illness of six months.
A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was a son of the
late Jesse and Marie Causby. He was also preceded in death by a brother,
Jesse David Causby of Saluda, and a granddaughter, Jessie Wolfe of Arden.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Cuban Crisis and
was a member of French Broad Baptist Church. He had been employed with
General Electric for 35 years before retiring earlier this year. He was
active in both the Blue Ridge Amateur Radio Club and the Hendersonville
Gem and Mineral Society. He liked to go camping and to spend time with
his Jack Russell Terrier.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Betty Ann Causby; a son, Christopher
Charles Causby and his wife, Susanna; two daughters, Carolyn C. Wolfe and
Catherine M. Bates, both of Arden; a brother, Samuel Robert Causby and
his wife, Evelyn of Lynwood, N.J.; a sister, Martha C. Corn and her husband
David of Hendersonville; and three grandchildren, Robert Wolfe, Alex Bates
and Kylee Bates.
The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Shepherd's Church
Street Chapel with the Revs. Jim Carrigan and Roy Perry officiating. Burial
will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park with military graveside rites being
conducted by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post #77, Hedrick-Rhodes VFW
Post #5206 and DAV Chapter 14. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m.
Saturday evening at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors and at other
times will be at the home.
