OBITUARY FOR RICHARD D COSBY - The body of Richard D. Cosby, aged 48, who died today at
Union Station , Chicago, without ministerial aid, although the station was crowded with
clergymen returning from the fifty-seventh annual conference of Presbyterian ministers at
Bentonville, Ark., left tonight at 8:30 over the Wabash for Lafayette, Indiana, which was
to have been his destination had he lived. When the throngs of clergymen became aware
that a man had died within a few feet of them without the administration of the last rites
of their church, they were very much affected. "Richard became ill four months ago
immediately after his separation from his wife," said his brother, Edward Cosby, of
Lafayette, "and his malady baffled all the physicians of Stuttgart, Ark. They seemed
unable to diagnose it, so I started to take him back to Lafayette. I cannot notify his
widow because I do no know where she is." Cosby lived at Clarks Hill for some time
and was also a resident of Sto!
ckwell. He was addicted to the use of liquor and, when under its influence, was ugly and
was implicated in many fights. His career here was quite reckless and his name was
familiar to people in every part of the county.
