Mary Mauney
SHELBY - Mrs. Mary Lois Lovelace Mauney, 81, of 2915 Polar Circle, died Saturday, Jan. 24,
2004, at home.
She was born Nov. 28, 1922, in Cleveland County and was retired from Ora Mill Company as a
winder. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison Pinkney and Ollie Kay Causby Lovelace;
her husband, J.D. Mauney; her brother, Willie Lovelace; and two sisters, Selma Lovelace
and Thelma Clary.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde Lee Mauney and Teresa of Shelby
and Forest King Mauney and Sara of Ellenboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Keith
Brackett of Shelby; two brothers, Sam Lovelace of Connelly Springs, and William Lovelace
of Casar; five sisters, Irene Melton of Atlanta, Betty Shepherd of Ellenboro, Alpha
Brittain of Hickory, Evelyn Ezzell of Icard, and Lavonda Rhoney of Lenior.; four
grandsons, Jeremy Brackett and wife Teresa, Brandon Mauney, Chad Reynolds and wife Allison
and Stephen Seals and wife Angela; three granddaughters, Melissa Mauney, Tara Mauney and
Jessie Mauney; two great-granddaughters, Carsyn Reynolds and Caitlynn Reynolds; and one
great-grandson, Peyton Seals.
The funeral will be Monday at 7 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, with the Revs. Larry Franks
and Bryan Glisson officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 5:30 p.m. before
the service.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Monday at the church. Family headquarters will
be at the home.
Burial will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park.
"Our thanks to her extended family at the Life Enrichment Center who gave her love,
laughter and many precious memories," the family wrote.
