CLEVE R. ROBINSON
MORGANTON ; Cleve Roosevelt Robinson, 84, of Vine Arden Road, died Jan. 8, 2003, at Grace
Hospital after a period of declining health.
Born April 23, 1918, in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Robert L. and Ophelia
Harshaw Robinson.
A member of Mars Hill A.M.E. Church, he was a former trustee, steward, church treasurer
and choir member. A Man of the Year award recipient, he retired as a coal miner after 28
years of service in Lillybrook, W.Va. He also was a member of the Burke County Prayer
Band.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Leola Shade Robinson and Thelma Causby Robinson,
two brothers, Lefoy Robinson and James Robinson, and three sisters, Lessie R. Perkins,
Naomi R. Hannah and Juanita R. Robinson.
Survivors include a son, George Causby of Norfolk, Va.; two daughters, Marva Glenn of
Landover, Md., and Wanza East of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pastor
Virginia R. and James Redmond of Cleveland, Ohio, and Treava R. Crisp of the home; a
grandson, Roland Scott; and four granddaughters, Delilah Scott Calvet, Jennifer Robinson,
Denese Scott and Sonia Davenport.
The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Shirley W. Hines, H.S. Williams, Lula Williams,
Myrtle Carlton, Herbert Carter and Ruppert Ferguson at 3 p.m. Monday at his church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
