I believe there is reasonable evidence (because of the coincidence of names) that Ransom
COSBY was a sibling of Nancy COSBY, who m (13 Mar 1831 Crawford County) William SINCLAIR
and had a son, Ransom bc1843 and resided in Crawford County; and also a sibling of Lucinda
COSBY, who m (10 Jan 1836 in Orange County [after his nasty divorce]) George SINCLAIR and
had a son, Ransom bc1833 and resided in Crawford County.
Nancy, Lucinda and Ransom are all reported b TN in the 1850 and 1860 census. Crawford
and Orange Counties adjoin.
Now the speculation:
The 1820 U.S. Census for Indiana M33-014 (Crawford County 005) lists John COSBY (45 ),
wife (26-44), males: 2 (0-9), 1 (10-15), females: 2 (0-9), 1 (10-15).
