Leonard Causby
SHELBY - Mr. Leonard Stanley Causby, 84, of 667 Washburn Switch Road, died Thursday, Sept.
23, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born on Aug. 25, 1920, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Joe C. and Cora Lee
Paxton Causby. He served in the Army in World War II and retired from Dover Mill after 30
years. He was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church, where he was a member of the
Gillespie-Justice Sunday school class.
He had a passion for music and was known to be able to play anything with strings.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bryan Causby.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Catherine Jones Causby of the home; three daughters,
Janice Hester and husband, Roger, of Sanford, Mary Lee McSwain and husband, Richard, of
Shelby and Diane Edwards and husband, Mike, of Mooresboro; two sisters, Myrtle and
Margaret Causby, both of Shelby; two stepbrothers, Albert Bowen and wife, Frances, and
Clyde Bowen and wife, Pat, all of Shelby; a stepsister, Ruth Preston of Shelby; a
sister-in-law, Irene Causby of Shelby; eight grandchildren, Sherrie Mabe, Pamela Kaess,
Robin Patra, Shane McSwain, Kimberly Clayton, Robert Edwards, Leslie McSwain and Marc
Edwards; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Double Springs Baptist Church, with the Revs.
Brint Hilliard, Glenn Walker and Jim McSwain officiating. The body will be placed in the
church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at
other times at the home.
