Jimmy Causby
MORGANTON --- Jimmy Causby, 78, of Bethel Road, died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Wake
Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
He was born March 28, 1925, in Burke County, a son of the late Ivey Causby and Margaret
Edwards Causby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Fred and Bobby Causby.
He was the co-owner of Causby Buick in Morganton. Mr. Causby was a U.S. Navy veteran of
World War II.
He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Mr. Causby served as the lay leader of
the Marion District, the Western North Carolina Conference and the Southeastern
Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. He was a delegate to the United Methodist
Church General Conference and to the Jurisdictional Conference of the church.
Mr. Causby was active in numerous civic organizations. He was a member of the board of
directors of First Citizens Bank.
He is survived by: his wife, Marie Duckworth Causby of the home; sons and their wives,
Ronny and Caroline Causby of Morganton and Glen and Lucy Causby of Sylva; daughters and
their husbands, Beth and Martin Whitaker of Morganton and Jenny Gay and Tony Reggi of
Asheville; brothers, Earl Causby of Morganton and Gene Causby of Clayton; and
grandchildren, Joe Causby, Elizabeth Causby, Wesley Causby, Justin Reggi and Jared Reggi.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Salem United Methodist Church, with the
Rev. Don Freshour and Mr. Jack Young officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the men's Bible class of his church.
The family received friends Saturday at Sossoman Funeral Home. The body will be placed in
the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. The family also will receive friends at
the church following the services.
