Hi Wendy
Lovely to hear from you! I check back from time to time but Ancestry notified me of your
message.
George Causby came from Nether Winchendon and Ann from Waddesdon, both small villages in
the county of Buckingham. They sailed to Australia on the ship "Belle Alliance"
arriving in SA 1st July 1847, and settling in Gawler soon after. They remained in Gawler,
raising a large family and living an interesting life, including owning/managing several
of the hotels in Gawler. George was only 50 when he died but his wife Ann lived on another
34 years.
My line has come through from their son Henry Allen Causby born in 1852. Henry married
Elizabeth Cook Giles, moving to Tasmania, but some descendants have moved back to SA.
Where are you connected?
The Causby family go a fair way back in England, but it's difficult to trace as the
spelling varies - Corsby, Cosbey, Cosby etc.
I would be happy to share what I have - would you like to email me at xanadu(a)twpo.com.au
and let me know what you're interested in.
Great to connect with another distant relly!
Regards
Maria
