Thanks to all who responded. I have very limited information on my
Caulfield relative. Here it is:
On April 10, 1882, Kate Caulfield (also spelled Canfield or Caufield)
married Michael Foley at St. Jarlath's Church in Chicago. Her age was
given as 24.
She died on January 29, 1891 and is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in
Chicago. Her death certificate gives her name as Ellen. I am certain
this is the correct dc because of the address of her home and her burial
with Michael Foley in Mt. Olivet. I think maybe Ellen was a nickname or
something. She was survived by John Joseph Foley born in 1883. She may
also have been survived by a Jimmy Foley but I am unclear about that.
She had a tragic life. After John Joseph's birth, she had Mamie about
1885 or 1886. Then Martin about 1889. In January 1890 Mamie died at 4
years of age;; in March 1890 Martin died at 13 months; in May, 1890 her
husband, Michael, died of "stonecutter's disease". The following
January she died.
I hope to look at St. Jarlath's microfilm for the marriage and deaths in
the next few months and maybe find another Caulfield or a witness to the
marriage or something. I will keep the list informed if I find anything
but I know I can't begin to order the film for several months.
The Irish used family names for the children so maybe John Joseph, Mamie
or Martin are Caulfield names. Janice
