I'm not sure about Keran's siblings, but I'd imagine there were at least a
few. I've heard of a John Caulfield in Galway around that time, so he may be a
brother or nephew of Keran's given Keran was born around 1825.
The 1901/1911 Census data online wouldn't help because Keran immigrated sometime
between his birth in 1825 and the birth of my ggrandfather in 1854. I've also seen
where his first name may have changed - just as many Caulfields pitched their l's over
the side of the boat in the Atlantic, I'm suspecting that Keran may be an Americanized
version of "Kieran" or "Ciaran". Keran is definitely accurate
stateside though - his name was carried on by a few Caufield men after him.
What types of resources did you find most fruitful when researching 19th century Ireland?
I'm finding dead ends mostly.
