Hi Rhiannon,
I am very excited to hear from you. For so long I have thought I was at a hopeless
dead-end.
My great grandfather, John Caulfield was born about 1839 and immigrated to America
sometime before Sept 11, 1872, the date he married my great grandmother, Sarah Lyons. He
was from Co Tipperary, near Carringen (sp?). His mother was born about 1802 - 1805. Her
name was Mary Costello and her husband's name was John Caulfield. Mary immigrated
some time before 1870 and she was widowed by 1870 (per census).
Mary had at least 2 children in addition to John: Honora (age 22) and Ambrose (age 24).
Both immigrated in 1857 on the ship, John Bright.
All of them lived in Illinois in 1880.
John and Sarah's children's names:
Kate (probably Sarah's child from a previous marriage)
William
Honora
Mary
John J
Michael Lawrence (my grandfather)
How do we try to connect my family from Tipperary to your family from Co Mayo?
Rebecca
