I am researching my great-grandfathers family in Monaghan town, Monaghan, Ireland. Apart
from him being in Melbourne, Australia from about 1900-1907 onwards the following is all
we know. His name was Daniel Joseph Caulfield, born in Monaghan July 16th, 1872. His
parents were William Caulfield and Esther/Essie Kerr/Carr. We have found out he had at
least one sibling, Elizabeth Caulfield, born June 20th, 1866 in Monaghan. We also know he
served in the RIC (Royal Irish Constabulary). The family talk is that his parents or prior
were of Scottish birth / descent, possibly Argyll. It is only this week we have confirmed
these facts and have sent for the birth certificates / service records. But they won't
tell us much more. Can anyone help? If Elizabeth lived did she emigrate also? Did he have
any more siblings?
