Help...
I've hit a dead end with my 2nd Great Grandfather...
His name was Thomas Havern of Ballygraigy, Antrim, born abt 1838. He married Ellen
Caulfield of Crumkill. They were married on 7 Apr 1875. As per their marriage cert
abstract from rootsireland.ie, Thomas's was 37 at time of marriage and his father was
Robert Havern, a laborer, and Ellen was 19 at the time of marriage. Her father was James
Caulfield, a weaver.
My problem is that for some reason, when Thomas married Ellen, he took her last name,
Caulfield. This is proven through the birth cert of their son Robert
CAULFIELD (my gr. grandfather) b. 3 March 1879 in Ballymena, Antrim; d. 1935 Buffalo, NY,
USA.
If anybody can help, I would love to hear from you.
Liam
