Hi again
My email is sl77sam(a)comcast.net. I would love to see what the other person has on James...It seems that side of the family is a thorn in both our sides....It is funny I am not sure if the name is spelt right or not...When I was looking for my Great Grandparents I kind of missed them all together as the hand writting was transcribed as Soretta and Loweth was Soweth...The L looked like s's.....Caufiend was also spelt caulfield and coofield, etc...So I am just hunting and a pecking for Good old Uncle James....Do you have a tree on ancestry? I have been pretty good in finding women that remarried , etc.....Let me know and if I find something I will holler back to you
Sandy

Hi Sandy,
First of all, we may be barking up the wrong tree here. My spelling is CAUL and I see yours is not. BUT,
if you give me your email, I have just received some information from someone else on a James from NYC. I will be happy to forward his info to you. It seems that for me, his info is a dead end, but I would forward to you anyway. IF your James and mine are one in the same, yours would have had to come to Chicago, at least before 1915.
p.s. I'm not doing much better than you, I am stuck around this period too. The only absolute I know, is that our ancestors managed to procreate before checking off this mortal coil - at least I am pretty sure yours did. :)

Hi
This part of my family tree has been the hardest and still a work in progress...I have not found anything reguarding James other than he was listed in the 1880 NY Census with his family.. I am trying to locate his birth record in NY...Do you have any info reguarding James?
Sandy

Not sure if this is any help, but here goes:
Caulfield is an English spelling of an ancient Irish name of royal descent - so it is possible you are a blueblood.
MY great-grandfather may also have been named James, and I may be the fourth in that 'name' line. Email me, and I will tell you what else I know. I am at jmcaulfield(a)comcast.net

I am currently looking for a James, quite possibly the son, who would have moved to Chicago, married, and had another son named James. Any of this ring a bell? My name Is James Caulfield, and my email is jmcaulfield(a)comcast.net

Maybe. Shot in the dark, but what the heck - do you know if he was married and to whom - and did he ever live in Illinois?
