port.

is a totally volunteer organization. I have been transcribing for
them
for
a while. New ships are added frequently as there are hundreds of
volunteers
working to transcribe lists to be posted on the web. It is requested
that
new users start with the home page to see the expectations before going on

The Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild has done an amazing job in locating
lists from all over the world. Their site located at
http://istg.rootsweb.com/index.1 is superb.
It seems there are 28,000 lists for consultation. There are about 40 lists
for Glasgow, and even an 1848 listing for for the island of South Uist, in
Scotland.
It seems that the database is searchable by surname; surely worth a try?
