Hi Gary, Laquita, and list,
I have copies of a few pages from "MCCREARY Genealogy" that mentions John CAGHY
(CAUGHEY) in Little Britain Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. It states that the MCCREARYs, LOVEs,
and CAUGHEYs lived near Little Britain Twp. and that these three families came from
Northern Ireland. With regard to variations of CAUGHEY: "This is the same CAUGHEY
family that bought land from William Penn in Little Britain Township in 1740, came to Erie
Co., PA, and later to North Kingsville, OH...... Chester County, only three miles from the
McCreary Manor House, was where the CAUGHEYs were living, under the names
'McCaughey' and 'Caghy.' .....In north Kingsville, the same name appears
as "Coy" where Jessie, Isadore, and Emily lived on the North Ridge." With
variations like these, it must be difficult to get the family history straight.
Best Wishes,

Hi Laquita:
I believe I corresponded with you once a few years ago. I lost all my contacts after that
in a computer accident and gave up in frustration before I became active again recently.
I am more careful now to back up my files! If memory serves me we have a common
connection in Wiley F. Caughey. Wiley was my great-grandfather. My grandfather Joseph S.
was the son of Wiley and his second wife Martha Corder. I suppose we then have the same
line from there back (John of PA.) I haven't run across anything that tracks back
from there. I've read sources that say his ancestor came from Donegal and some say
Down. Also read that this line also immigrated in late 1600s from Scotland. Do you
happen to know if any of this is accurate? Thanks for your help cousin. Gary Caughey
