CAUGHEY researchers:
I am researching the CAUGHEY name with the hope I can locate my
husband's great grandfather, Caughey S. FLEMING, born c 1854.
I have found these CAUGHEY's in the same town where C.S. FLEMING lived
as an adult but as yet have no ties:
Thomas S. CAUGHEY, 1820-1908, b OH, s/o John, died Shelbyville
Kesiah KELLY CAUGHEY, ?-1898, b OH, died Shelbyville
James T. CAUGHEY, c1860-1893, b New Paris OH, s/o George M &
? THOMPSON, died single in Shelbyville
Charles J. CAUGHEY, c1855-1885, s/o George M, died single in
Shelbyville
Lida J. CAUGHEY, 1858-1931, bur Shelbyville
Adaline J. CAUGHEY, 1833-1912, bur Shelbyville (maiden name unk)
The Shelbyville above is in Shelby Co, IN. I believe there are all part
of the family of CAUGHEY's that lived in New Paris, OH, several of whom
were tailors. This CAUGHEY family intermarried with a FLEMING family
(also of New Paris, OH) in Fayette Co, KY, prior to their combined trek
to Preble Co, OH. I believe the CAUGHEY family migrated to KY from PA.
Other surnames that may be involved with the above CAUGHEY's are
Story
Thompson
Kelly
Steeley or Staley
Whitcomb
Thanks for a n y clues!
