Kansas2. He married REBECCA PENNY WILLIAMS3 22 Dec 1869 in Raleigh, N.C.4, daughter of
MARK WILLLIAMS and MARIA MCGUFFEE. She was born 1845 in North Carolina5, and died 1925 in
Sedgwick County, Kansas6.
Notes for JOHN DEVERO CAUDLE:
John D. resided in Chatham County where he enlisted at age 22, April 15, 1861, in Company
M, 15th Regiment N.C. Troops (5th Regiment N.C. Volunteers). Present or accounted for
until transferred to 2nd Company I, 32nd Regiment N.C Troops, July 4, 1862. Present or
accounted for until paroled at Richmond, Virginia, April 21, 1865. This is from
documentation from North Carolina Troops: 1861-1865. In 1870 after married, he and
Rebecca lived with her parents Mark and Maria Williams in Wake County, Raleigh, N.C. It
listed his occupation as a mill wright.
In 1880, John and his family lived in Fishing Creek, Wilkes, N.C. Not long after this,
the Caudle's moved to Ulysses, Kansas as his daughter Rosamonde was married in 1888.
In 1900, John, Rebecca, Frank and Lula lived in Sumner Cty, Eden Township, Kansas. Also
living with them was John Gilchrist (boarder) who later married Lula. All were farmers.
In 1910, John and Rebecca lived on a farm in Seward County, Seward Township, Kansas.
His neighbor was his son Frank.

In 1920 Kansas Census, Rosa lived with her children Alfred, Jay and Jewel in Sedgwick Cty,
Wichita City. Also living with her was her mother Rebecca. According to her obit, she
lived at 324 South Exposition, She had lived in Cheney prior to moving to Wichita around
1934.

Notes for ALFRED JACOB BENNETT:
According to research from Mr. Krause, he states the following: Alfred Jr. moved to
Neenah, Wis, then to Hungerford, Mi. In 1881 he came to Wichita and lived there for about
2 years. Then he returned to Michigan and helped move his family here in the fall of
1884. In the 1884 Kansas Census, all the kids (Dad was missing) lived in Norwich
Township.
He made a claim for land at Tilden, Grant Co., Kansas. Built a 12x12 sod house. Alfred,
Walter E. and Alfred L. Nutting also filed claim. They had an orchard.
Sometime after he wed Rosa Caudle in Ulysses, Kansas, they moved to outside Cheney.
According to Gladys, Alfred worked for Tom Nash on his sheep ranch. It was 9 mi south of
Cheney, Sand Creek. In April 1893, they lived in Garden Plain. They believe that A.J.
helped someone make the run into the Cherokee Strip-Sept. 1893. In 1900 Alfred and Rosa
lived with 4 children in Sedgwick County, Erie township. He owned land here. Alfred was
37, Rosa was 29, Gladys, 10, Vernon, 8, Guy,6, May, 4 and Floyd, 1. Alfred Jr. was a
neighbor to his father Alfred Sr. About 1904 the family moved to their farm on Smoots
Creek. In 1920 Alfred and his daughter Mae lived in Kingman Cty, Vinita township. His
wife, Rosa and the rest of the family lived in Sedgwick Cty, Wichia City, Kansas. In
1930 Alfred lived with his family in Kingman Cty, Vinita township. Also living with them
was Alfred Mark, his wife Gussie and their children Alfred J, Gracie and David.
According to A.J. obit, he lived with his daughter D.H. Glazier (Gladys) in Salina,
Kansas.

My grandmother was Loula Caudle from near
Jackson Tn. She died in 1919 of the avian flu in
Birmingham Ridge Ms (near Tupelo MS) I know her
family had relatives in Fayetteville TN. Her brother's
name was William Caudle.
Does any of this information coincide with any of
yours. I would love to find out which Caudle family she is
from.
