Here is a couple poems that I'm very proud of. The first one was written by
my cousin Bonnie Caudle Womack. The second was written by her grandaughter
Raquel Womack. Being a veteran of two wars myself, makes me even more proud.
Bud
Raquel (Bonnie's grandaughter) needed to write a Veteran's Day poem for a
school project. I wrote this in about 30 min. to give her an idea of what to
write. I've since thought of improvements, but decided to leave it as it was.
I also included her poem based on an interview with Randy (Randy is Bonnie's
son.) about Desert Shield. I let her use my first line because the poem had
to refer to a Bible verse.
God Bless Our Veterans
For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son.
War takes many sons and daughters, sometimes a mother's only one.
Freedom comes at a price, and it's the freedom fighters who pay.
We have to appreciate this, because if they live, it's with them every day.
Memorials and parades are only for them to see.
We must really show them what it means to be free.
We have the freedom of choice and more,
We really need to thank them for.
Veteran's Day is for the ones who lived and the ones who died,
So for the love of God and our Country we must show pride.

Medic At War
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son.
War takes many sons and daughters, sometimes a mother's only one.
A Medic sleeps alone at night,
His heart is filled with fright.
He knows that light will bring,
More soldier's arms in a sling.
As the soldiers begin to cry,
The medic knows, some might die.
And as the veterans before, that have died,
The medic carries on with pride.
