The David Caudill(Cordell) who married Rebecca Sims on 25 Nov 1817 in Franklin Co., GA was
not the same David Caudill who married Elizabeth Bridges on 26 Apr 1827 in Franklin Co.,
GA. The Divorce of Rebecca Sims & David Caudill was not final until Apr 1828.
The David Caudill, husband of Elizabeth Bridges, died before the 1830 census was taken.
The census report for Franklin Co., GA in 1830 shows Elizabeth Caudel, age 30-40 with 1
male & 1 female age 0-5. This David was listed as a Rev. War Vet.
The David Caudill that married Rebecca Sims in 1817 was listed in 1830 in Habersham Co.,
GA as David Caudal: 1 male 30-40, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 20-30, 2 female 30-40.
This David was the son of Benjamin & Sarah Cordell. Benjamin was born about 1757 and
died in Habersham Co., GA in 1835. He was a Rev. War Vet and the brother of the David
that married Elizabeth Bridges.
The brothers, David & Benjamin, left a good paper trail from Chatham Co., NC, through
Rowan & Wilkes, on their way to Northeast GA. It seems more likely, to this
researcher, that they are the sons of Isham Cordell of Granville Co., NC, than the sons of
James of Wilkes Co., NC.
