Lisa: William's father is not proven or known absolutely to the best of my knowledge.
William had a brother James born about 1800. These families resided in what is today
Yadkin County in the area near and around East Bend. In the early 1800's, it was
Surry County. If I was to wager, I'd bet that William was kin to Moses Caudle b. abt.
1761. You can find Moses in the 1820 Surry Co. census, Capt. William's District.
---- This is merely speculation on my part ----
You can find Willian in the 1850 Surry Co., NC Census, p.166B, House 79, 80.
We do have a descendant of James that participated in our YDNA Project. His YDNA did not
align well with the balance of the CAUDILL, CAUDLE, CORDLE, CAUDELL, etc... samples that
have been tested. Given that it's just one sample, these results are not significant
enough to draw any conclusions.
William also married Nancy Brown about 1826.
I have gathered a lot of information on these families from a few different sources if
you'd like to discuss further.
