Message Board Post:
I have many Caudill's in my family and will be working on research to submit to the
Gingerbread Festival Committee, Slade Cook, Billie Ruth Gayheart or the Knott Public
Library. If Caudill researchers choose to submit their material to anyone other than
those mentioned here it is at your risk.
Fact 1. The Caudill Family will be honored by the Knott Gingerbread Festival Committee
This was voted on by the committee and to my understanding no other organization had a
vote in this.
Fact 2. The Patrick Family was honored this past September and worked hard to get together
a publication to be viewed at the festival and low and behold do we have to guess. (Where
is that publication?)
Fact 3. The Historical Societies in my two neighboring counties do not keep research
material locked up. All research material is in the local libraries for your convenience
to use at any time. Every piece of microfilm, CD's, books, family files and
publications is at your disposal. If you need other information not in their possession
the libraries will get them on loan from KHS for your use.
Fact 4. Our families over the years have labored and struggled through many hardships and
left behind a history to be proud of. Most of factual information is from public records
with the exception of personal family incidents passed down through time. No one person
owns this history or the right to say it belongs to them. The presentation of material
can differ but no one person can say all the collected information is their sole property.
Fact 5. If you as a Caudill descendant want your information to be part of a publication
that will be available to you in the future, please make sure you submit your information
into safe and responsible hands.
Sincerely,
Gloria Marcum
