WILLARD: Buford Caudill, age 87, of Willard, Ohio died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 in
Georgetown, Ohio after a brief illness.
He was born on July 23, 1924 to William and Eliza (Williams) Caudill in Salyersville,
Kentucky.
Buford proudly served in the Army in World War II.
He was a POW and humbly received the Purple Heart, for being wounded while serving.
If you met Buford, you liked him almost immediately. Warm, humorous, and witty described
his personality. His genuine smile easily won you over. He was a man of many talents and
he could fix almost anything.
Buford took Frances (Vanderpool) Caudill as his wife and was her life partner for 57
years. They lived on Greenbush Road in Willard all of their married life. She preceded him
in death on July 21, 2010.
Buford was a special father to his four children, Kathy (Willard) Casto of Mansfield,
OHIO, Pam Berry of Loveland, OH, Danny (Terry) Caudill of Willard, OH and Matthew Caudill
who passed away on June 25, 2010.
He took great delight in his seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Buford was from a large family of seven brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by only one brother, Carson (Norma) Caudill of Bethel, OHIO.
His brothers and sisters that preceded in death were, Reva Hammond, Mitchell Caudill,
Beatrice Woestenburg, Hershal Caudill, Ishmail Caudill, Wendell Caudill, Dellis Caudill,
Etta Fay Caudill and Edith Grey Absher.
Buford was a faithful member of the Delphi United Methodist Church for over 30 years. He
lived out what he believed as he touched the lives of all of those around him. He will be
sorely missed by all.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Eastman Funeral
Home, 49 W. Main Street, Greenwich.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Delphi United Methodist
Church, 628 US Route 224, Willard. Burial with military rites will follow at Maple Grove
Cemetery, New Haven.
