Sampson Caudle is supposed to be the father of Benjamin Caudle. Benjamin Caudle us
supposed to be the father of Peter Franklin Caudle. Peter us supposed to be buried in an
unmarked grave in the Danforth cemetery by Stafford, Missouri. A cousin of mine says that
Peter was supposed to be a hard to control child. He was supposed to have left or been
sent from home around the age of 4 or 5. Personally, I would have never sent my 4 or 5
year old child to live with someone else. This is hard for me to understand. Supposedly
he went to live with a Jarvis Caudle. This census is listed below. Jarvis is supposed to
be an Uncle of Peter. I have never found a census with Peter ever living with Benjamin.
I do see a census of a child named Peter living with a Jarvis near Rolla, Missouri. I
cannot make a connection between Jarvis and the Benjamin or Sampson. I find Benjamin and
Sampson around Stockton, Missouri around the year 1953. Sampson owned land 1853 east of
Stockton, Mis!
souri. I was told that he homesteaded the land.
Sampson was supposed to have married a Cherokee Indian lady, Lis Hawks. She was supposed
to have been the daughter of a Chief. As I suppose all stories go. This Indian lady was
supposed to have cross the Mississippi on the Trial of Tears near Cape Girardeau,
Missouri. I suppose near the park named Trail of tears.
She was supposed to have had a turquoise bracelet. My grandmother spoke of this bracelet.
I met a lady years later that spoke of the same bracelet. Supposedly Lis's
daughter-in-law pusher down some stairs to take her bracelet. This push was supposed to
have killed Lis.
In all the records that I have found about this Sampson Caudle, he moved to Stockton,
Missouri near the year 1853. His wife was supposed to have been Elisabeth
"Betsy" Ann Adams. I found their marriage record in the courthouse in Stockton,
Missouri. I also found a Swingle lady married to a Sampson Caudle in the same court
house. This group fo Caudle family have spelled the last name Cordel Caudill.
If anyone could help me with this mystery, I would really appreciate your help!
