This has been a mystery to me and I think I figured it out! I'm so happy so
please..someone tell me I'm right LOL
I got so desperate that I pulled all the Tazewell census from 1880 to 1920, went through
all of them and wrote down every Cordle, Caudill, Caudell, etc there was. I started
comparing which ones were living next to each other, the other people they were living
next to, etc...
The 1910 census shows "Lou" in the household of John Caudill with his brother
James. It looked like it said "mom" or such but then I started thinking, this
does not look like "mom" but WHAT does it say? "Mom's sis"?
Started thinking Lou is not John's mother, but related to mom.
In the 1920 census, John and James are living with their wives and children next to
William P. Caudill. He was about the right age to be their brother. They are living next
to Joseph and Grover Elswick and John Lockhart.
On the 1900 census, William and James Cordle, the right ages to be my James and William,
are living in the household of John Elswick as his step-children...married to Belle!
Someone tell me who is this Belle?? This is William and James' mother. But John, my
grandfather, is not there with them and I can't find him on that census. He would
have only been about 13-15. I see there name as Cordle on all census' except
1910-1930. Anyone have my missing pieces?
