I thought that I would post this invitation on behalf of the Letcher
County Historical and Genealogical Society (LCHGS). Their 10th Anniversary
Celebration will be held at the Indian Bottom Church which was originally
organized in 1810. Some of my Caudill ancestors took part in the
organization of this church. I plan to attend the celebration and hope to
see some of you there. Please let me know if you plan to attend.

TENTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
In June, 2000, the Letcher County Historical/Genealogical Society will
celebrate its tenth year as an organization dedicated to the purpose of
collecting, preserving and sharing information concerning Letcher County
and its people. During the last ten years, the Society has made a good
beginning in accomplishing many of its goals. The Society is very proud of
their more than twenty-five publications including the pictorials, the
family history, the marriage records, the cemetery records, the U.S. Census
records, and various other books and pamphlets. The Society has marked
more than one hundred twenty-five old graves that had no stones or rapidly
deteriorating field stones. Additionally, the Society has purchased
historical and genealogical books for the collection in the Harry M.
Caudill Memorial Library valued at more than twenty-five thousand dollars.
Currently, the Society is hoping to raise enough money to completely
renovate the Indian Bottom Church, which it has recently acquired, to use
as a museum to house old records and artifacts of the church.
None of this would have been possible without the cooperation of all
you Letcher Countians and Letcher County Cousins who have generously
supported the Society with your contributions to our projects and your
purchases of our publications.
We invite all of you to come celebrate our TENTH ANNIVERSARY at a
POT-LUCH DINNER at the INDIAN BOTTOM CHURCH on JUNE 17, 2000, at ONE
O'CLOCK p.m. The Society will furnish tableware and cake. Each person is
asked to come, bring all your family, enough food to feed your family, a
twelve pack of soft drinks, and folding chairs.
The INDIAN BOTTOM CHURCH is five miles south of Isom on Highway 7
South. If you think you might come, notify Mrs. Doris Adams, P.O. Box 14,
Jeremiah, KY 41826 or call her at 606-633-0429. You are not making a
definite commitment, but giving us an idea of how many we might expect.
