Hi Janice. I am a fellow researcher. I am shooting in the dark here but you
never know...
My Maternal Grandmothers mother Ethel Edit MANN died when my grandmother was
only 8 years old. Because of this there is little known about my Maternal
Grandmothers ancestors.
What little I do know is this:
Ethel Edith MANN was the child of Sidney Muzell MANN and Sarah
Elizabeth "Roxie" CAUDILLE.
Sarah Elizabeth CAUDILLE was born 18 October 1873
Sarah Elizabeth CAUDILLE married Sidney Muzell MANN
From this union there were at least three children:
Garnett
MANN
Rose Ella MANN
Ethel Edith MANN
Both Sidney Muzell MANN and Sarah Elizabeth CAUDILLE are buried at the
Grosclose Chapel Cemetery in Smyth Co. Va. I do not have the information from
Sarah Elizabeth's Tombstone.
Sidney Muzell MANN was born 26 Oct 1866
Sidney Muzell MANN died 8 Feb 1946 in Rurla Retreat, Wythe Co, Va. just on the
border of Smyth Co Va.
Sidney Muzell MANN was buried at Groseclose Chapel in Smythe Co., Va.
Sarah Elizabeth CAUDILLE was buried beside her husband at Groseclose Chapel.
I noticed that you were also researching a Sarah Elizabeth CAUDILL but from an
earlier time frame and from Russell Co., Va. Since names run in the family and
Russell Co., Va. is a neighboring county; I was hoping that maybe you might
know of the Sarah Elizabeth CAUDILLE for which I seek. Or at least you could
point me in the right direction to help determine more information about my
Sarah Elizabeth CAUDILLE. I do not have access to Census records from that
period of time in those counties so I have been unable to search for them in
those records. I did however manage to locate a partial 1860 census (before
Sarah Elizabeth CAUDILLE was born) and there were several CUADILLE families
living in Smyth County. Any help no matter how small would be greatly
appreciated.
Your fellow researcher,
Lawrence
