Thanks for your information. My grandfather attended Mary "Polly"
Hubbard's
100th birthday party (his great grandmother) and use to tell me stories
about that big party. I guess it made an impression on him or else he
remembered all the stories about it from later years as he was only 4 years
old at the party. He was able to tell all kinds of stories about his early
youth in great detail so it wouldn't surprise me if they were original
memories of the party.
I am wondering about the "COBLE" spelling of the name. Everything I've
ever
seen about this family spells it "CAUBLE." I've seen many of the
gravesites
in Washington County, IN and all of them use the "CAUBLE" spelling. All the
census records I've seen have been spelled "CAUBLE." (But that is the only
spelling I usually look for!) Where does the "COBLE" spelling come from?
Were they used interchangeably? You obviously got your name from someone
that used "COBLE" instead of "CAUBLE." I'd be interested in any
ideas you
have on this.
Thanks,
Greg Stuart
