According to my database and remembering that this info is from unconfirmed sources as it
is not my CATTO line-
Elizabeth CATTO who married William MURISON/MURRISON/MUIRSON etc on 30th May 1824 at
Rathen was the daughter of James CATTO (1758-1828) & Ann STEPHEN (1751-1820) who
married at Ellon on 21st June 1795. James CATTO was the son of James CATTO (c1710 - 1788)
& Janet MURISON (c1723 - 1801).
Gravestones at Rathen are as follows:-
"Under this stone lies the body of James CATTO sometime tenant in the lands of Memsie
died 28 feb 1788 aged 78; Jannet MURISON his spouse died 18 Sept 1801 aged 78. Their son
James late farmer Tyrie Mains, died 8 Oct 1828 aged 70; his spouse Ann STEPHEN died 4 Oct
1820 aged 68; Their son Alexander farmer in Middleton of Rattray died 23 Sept 1868 aged
67; his wife Rachel Youngson GEDDES died 13 Feb 1879 aged 71; Their daughter Elspet died
in infancy, Isabella died 26 Feb 1904 buried at Ayton, Berwickshire. This stone is erected
in memory of the deceased by his survivng issue."
"Erected by Margaret MURISON or SIMPSON in memory of her mother Elizabeth CATTO died
14 Jan 1855 aged 49; her father William MURISON farmer in Loanhead of Memsie, died 15 Nov
1858 aged 79. Her son John FINDLAY died 19 Nov 1884 aged 30, her daughter Elizabeth C
SIMPSON died 18 Jan 1886 aged 22. Said Margaret MURISON or SIMPSON died 27 July 1888 aged
58."
William MURISON & Elizabeth CATTO had 13 children that I know of. Interestingly I have
a different death date for William MURISON -see grave inscription.
