I seem to be receiving your emails by mistake. Never heard of emails going

PS. Cary Anderson's book may be worth ordering though; do you know which

Actually, there are three. I just phoned him (in 1989 or 1990) and then sent a check for
the price he asked...and when I saw the information, was more than happy to have paid it!
Is "Cousin Cary" still alive? I don't know -- hesitate to bother him -- but
I would guess that if he is still alive he'd be happy to send it in a large (8-1/2 x
11 or so) envelope with postage on it (several ounces) and I believe I paid about $30.
That was in the days of expensive copying, of course.
If all else fails, and with his permission, I'll send you a copy -- but he owns the
rights, so that would be a last resort...

Congratulations! Just a note, though -- Michael Jr. is not the son of Michael Sr., but
rather he is the nephew. It sounds like you have a copy of "The Catt Family in
America" by Dr. W. Cary Anderson -- but without the corrections or addendums, which
are very, very interesting.
I'm working on a "Catt Family Book" also -- and realize how impossible it is
for everything to be correct...and hope you appreciate my correcting you on this item, as
I'm sure you want the real information. (The author's addendums are available at
small additional cost -- I got them and they were very interesting.)

Hello, cousin! Yes, I have Sayner/Catt cousins -- and in fact, one third cousin has been
researching the Sayner line for about as long as I have been researching the Catt line.
In fact, my Great-great-grandfather Josiah Franklin "Frank" Catt is probably the
reason your ancestor changed his name from "Catt" to "Sayner" --
G-Gfather Frank was a bit colorful, to say the least!
I live near Seattle, WA and even when I was a child (in the 1950s) I had heard the family
joke "Sayners are saner than Catts". This apparently referred to the fact that
the Catts who became Sayners thought at least some of the Catts (who remained Catts --
like GGGrandfather Frank) were less than sane!
And, in fact, their father died in the insane asylum at Dane, Wisconsin...alas...
My third cousin Gordy Sayner, married to Madge, descends from the Sayner who changed his
name -- so you must be closer cousins to him than to me. Do you know them? I'll send
your message to Madge and Gordy, as it will be of interest, I'm sure.
Madge is the expert on the descendents who became Sayners, and even has information on why
they changed their name to "Sayner" when they decided to change it from
"Catt"! It's a great story, but I'll let her tell it...
