Dear Judy: The first Catt in my line was a William, and he married
Elizabeth Armitage 1784 in Warbleton, sussex.
William & Elizabeth had John, who married Mary Henty, 1806 in Warbleton.
John & Mary had several kids, but William who was born in 1809 in Heathfield
and married Fanny Meekcomes IS MY LINE.
William & Fanny *from Halstead, Kent, had 10 children.
Henry Catt born 1840 Farnborough, was MY GR-GRANDFATHER.
Henry married a Susan Meekcoms, and they had 4 sons. My GRANDPA SYDNEY born
1877 Southwark, Surrey, got married to Emily Atkins. They came to Canada
about 1911.
There appears to be a lot of CATTS about. I thought it would be not too hard
to research, but I'm not getting as far as I'd like.
I have found out a lot about Grandpa and his brothers. But not too much back
the three generations before.
I guess London wasn't a very good place to live, although all my Catt men
worked for the railways and probably did fine.
Living where I do, i'd really like to find some CATT decendants to write to.
I sent letters to 14 people, hoping to find somebody still in Kent, where
the last son lived, and I found in the 1901 Census.
No answers.
You gave me some details, but nothing really jibes does it. Perhaps the Catt
men were brothers or cousins.
Sincerely, Lianne Hunter (nee Catt)
John

Hi Leanne
My name is Judy Berntsen (nee Oak). I am also related to the Catt family
from Sussex. I have rather a large family tree on the CATT family. I
have
often seen your name crop up from time to time. Can you please tell
me
where you fit into the picture.
I descend from Alice Laura Catt who married William John Oak my gt
Grandfather on my father's side. Her sister Isabel Jane Catt married my
grandmother's father, George Wilson.
My grandfather's daughter, one of 5, married my grandfather, Alfred Ernest
Oak. Their eldest son was my father.
My ancestors came from Sussex (Oak) then moved up to London. My father
was
born in Dulwich, Camberwell, London in 1918, and died in 1958 in
Gisborne,
New Zealand.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Kind regards
Judy Berntsen
New Zealand
