I am new to this list, don't know how many of you are on this list.
I am looking for info on Richard Caton so I thought I'd try the
Caton list.
I know from researching the net, their seems to be a lot of
Richard Caton's.
Here's the info I have on my ggg grandfather, Richard Caton.
He was born in Maryland, I don't know where he mustered into the
War of 1812. He ended up at Sackett's Harbor which is up by Lake
Ontario.
Also married Jane O'Niel at Sackett's Harbor. I am assuming Jane was
from that area.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Served as Midshipman under Captain Malancthon Taylor Moultry on the
Brigatine Oneida-18 guns,
Schooner Sylph-10 guns, Brigatine Jones-22 guns.
Engaged in battles at Kingston, Toronto, Fort George, Genesee River and
Head of Lake Ontario.
Served 5 years in the U.S. Navy, received a pension of $8.00 a month.
Military records also gave name of spouse, date of marriage and place
of marriage.
