Hi Ann,
I probably should have said I was looking for Benjamin Caton although
I would like to find out more about either Rachel or her husband
Benjamin Caton.
Yes, I do believe that Benjamin Caton may have been born in Ireland about 1788.
His daughter, Penelope, married Niles Bishop. Penelope and Niles
Bishop moved from New York to Saginaw, Michigan where they died and
are buried.
I have never found Benjamin Caton on a census and I've only found
Rachel Caton on the 1830 census. I know of only the one daughter for
them---Penelope.
I've not seen the name Cayton. Thanks for passing it on.
Where in Ireland are you researching? Did any of your Caton family
ever live in New York or Michigan?

I would be more than happy to help you.....my Caton's are from
Virgina....A
Thomas
Caton came from Ireland around 1830 or so....so, we may be connected way back
in Ireland, and actually that name would be Cayton, the y being dropped with
the immigration....Good Luck.....keep at it....it took me a year and a half
to come up with info, and I starting to get some flow here.
