Monday Nov.1 1817
Ordered that Nathan Cato Lewis Cato and Richard Cato be summoned to appear
here at the next term of court to show cause if any they can why they should
not be liable according to law for failing to give a list of their taxable
property for the present year, having been returned deliquent by compliance
of their respective companies
Court order book c page 76 Sept 5 1815
On the motion of Richard Cato, for tavern license. It appearing to the court
that he is an orderly person and that he will probably keep an orderly house.
It is therefore ordered that tavern license be granted him ,upon entering
bond, where uphe entered and acknowledged and conditioned as the law require
with Lewis Cato as his security.

This is quite lengthy but I have connected every one of the Mo. Cato's
with what I think is a link to Christian County. Lewis shows up as a J.P.
in Mo. in 1819 so I think He went first and the rest followed including some
Ladd's
for there is still a Ladd's chapel [active] in Greenbriar, Mo. where these
guys landed.
According to the Wilford family history of Bertie County N.C. Neighbors many
of whom were neighbors in N.C. settle in Christian Co. among them Sterling,
Henry,
and Nathan Cato. also listed are Ladds and Pembertons. So evidently the
Ladds have traveled with the Cato's all the way from N.C.
