Vincent's Jesse. Right now I can't remember that census entry for J.
in
1850. Was it in Lancaster or Kershaw, and were other family members
listed? There is one other Cato crowd in the Gainesville, Georgia
area that
I have not placed, but they lived near Samuel L., William R., and
the

vast
family and where you live? Miles
Miles,
I am a semi-retired physician who lives in Nashville, Tn., age 73 yrs.
It is my wife who is a Cato. She is a descendant of Sterling Cato of
Lancaster Co., SC who moved to Christian Co., Ky. He was a son of
Henry and a brother of Needham, Burrell, William, etc. I have been
writing a book on the ancesters of my grandchildren. It lists the
names of all children and grandchildren in each generation, hence my
interest in the names of the children of Needham. As for as Allen is
concerned, I think he is a grandson of Henry but cannot presently
place him. Please tell me about your self.
In analyzing the census records for Needham, it is obvious that the
1810 census is very incorrect. I plan to go back and read the
microfilm of the census and see if I can find a different listing
than what I have presently. Bonnie has him in both the 1810 census of
Anson Co., NC (20020-1?01?00) and Lancaster Co., SC (11010-11010). I
read the 1810 census of Anson Co. as (11010-11010). However from the
1800 census and the 1820 census the 1810 census should probably read
33010-21010. I shall go back and re-read the 1850 census of Lancaster
for both J. Cato and M. Cato. Actually I have not read M. Cato as yet.
J. Cato was so hard to read that I took down only his age. He had a
wife and 1 or 2 children as I remember. Using the 1800, 1820, 1830
census records and the information you and Joan have supplied me.
I presently see the family as:
Dau, b. 1794-1800, b. ca 1794
Son, b. 1794-1800, probably Nathan, b. ca 1796
Son, b. 1794-1800, probably John, b. ca 1798
Son, b. 1800-1804, probably Samuel L., b. ca 1800
Dau, b. 1800-1804, probably Elizabeth, b. ca 1802
Son, b. 1804-1810, probably Green, b. ca 1805
Son, b. 1804-1810, probably Burrell, b. ca 1807
Son, b. 1804-1810, probably William R., b. ca 1809
Dau, b. 1810, probably Mary , b. ca 1810
