Cynthia,
I don't know who he is, but the regiment looks like it must be this fellow,
listed on the Confederate service records index as:
CATOE, W. T. - Pvt - Company F, 7th Battalion (Enfield Rifles) SC Infantry
(Nelson's Battalion)

Subject: [CATO] young Wm Thos. Cato SC Civil War
Hi all,
A while back, someone was asking about a young Cato boy who served in a
Kershaw SC Civil War Regiment. I think it was Bill Brasington, but the
name is cut off from my copy of the old query so I can't be sure.
I found this and wondered if it was the boy he meant:
CATO, Wm. Thos. of Kershaw District.
Age 17 (or possibly 14)
Co F. 7th? Regt. Bat. ER?
Died 2 May 1864, of Brain Fever in camp near Wilmington, NC.
Does anyone know which family William Thomas belongs to?
Cynthia
P.S. This is from a manuscript entitled "A Roll of the Dead" South
Carolina Troops, Confederate States Service.
