Hi all! Just wanted to take a moment to remember my grandfather, Henry
W. Cato, who would have been 93 years old today! He was born Jan 29,
1905 in Wylie, TX, the son of John H. Cato and Mary M. Hawkins. (He was
the grandson of William R. Cato Jr., the ggrandson of William R. Cato,
the gggrandson of Needham Cato, the ggggrandson of Henry Cato, and the
gggggrandson of John Cato m. Jane Cooke.) He had 41 years of service
with the Railway Postal Service (MKT Railway - Katy Railroad) and was a
member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Denison, TX. He loved to
keep a garden (a rather large one at times - even in his older years. I
guess farming is just in the Cato blood). He kept journals/records
about everything! (Unfortuneately, everything disappeared after his
death.) He married Daisy Belle Peek on June 8, 1924 - in their car!
They had 5 children from 1925-1938 - the "baby" being my mom. At his
death on April 28, 1993, he was survived by his wife, 2 sons and 3
daughters, 1 brother and 1 sister (now deceased), 20 grandchildren; 40
ggrandchildren, and 15 gggrandchildren. (Those numbers have, of course,
gone up since his death 5 years ago)
I cannot begin to tell you how much he was loved and how much he meant
to me. He was a classic - a very honorable man! I miss him very much!
I love you PawPaw! Happy Birthday!
