Bonnie,
In your message "Wm Cato mess!", the William Cato mentioned as private
from Maryland seems to be some kind of composite of William Cato of FF and
some other William from MD.
According to my records, (you have all this already, I think) Wm Cato of
FFwas born in 1757. He entered military service in 1775, at age 18, in
Camden District, SC. He married Susan Echols. He died 1829 or 1831. His
widow Susan filed for a pension 30 Nov 1831. Susan died 1842. William
and Susan's dau Frances Winfield Harrison states in 1849 that he died in
1829 ( in her application for a pension based on William's Rev War
service; I have " petition filed by her (Susan's) only surviving child")
.
I do have this record for MD Cato:
Rev War pension Applic
George Cato esf 1777 in Va regiment. discharged from service at Valley
Forge for disability from disease. gtd Pension as pauper by MD 1810 when
had wife and 5 children. afp ae 66 Durham Parish, Ch Co Md, 1818. when
soldier and wife age 56 res with daughter (mother of 2 small children) son
age 19, and son "a few years younger." Pension app refused 1822 since
already rec pension fm MD. R500.
