I found this in Brunswick Co., Va. Will Books, vol.2, will books 4 and 5
(1761-1780) Seems like a good match for the father of Lockett Mitchell. He was
the father of Mary m. Isham Harwell and John Brewer, Martha m. J. D. Swinney
and Green Cato, Nancy m. James Hunt, Green m. Sena Williams. This is the will
abstract:
Will of Thomas (X) Mitchell 1 Jan 1774 28 Feb 1774
"Weak in body"
To my daughter Lucy Nolly - negro girl Sarah, woman Esther.
To my son Locket - negro man Davey, boy Mingo, 175 acres where I now live.
To my daughter Mary Mitchell - negro woman Aggy, girl Nutt, girl Little Moll.
To my wife Ann - lend to her for life negro woman Moll; also 6 pounds yearly
for life for hire of negro Jack or as long as the said Jack should live to be
paid by my son Locket, & then I give the said Moll to my daughter Mary
Mitchell.
Other provisions.
Ex. my son Locket Mitchell
Wit. James Maclin, Joel Smith, Wm. Raney
Probate indicates that the said excr qualified with Peter Pelham, Jr. &
...miah(?) Nolly his securities.
