I am not sure if anyone will be able to help me - but any information I can get will be
greatly appreciated. I was researching my family tree and it seems as though I am at a
road block....from all the information I have been able to find, A John C. Bodiford was my
3rd great grandfather. But not from a child with Martha Coons - My 3rd great
grandmother's name was Sarah Cato. I have found some things saying they were married
and then other's saying they were never married. They had 2 sons - John Brekenridge
Cato b.1965 and Enoch Cato b.1870. The only "family story" we have ever heard
was that my grandmother's great grandfather was a "medicine doctor" and
married a Creek Indian woman. Have you ever heard this story??? I can not find ANY
information on Sarah Cato's family before her. She first appears on the 1850 census
for Coffee County in the same house with Thomas Morris (26) - and his wife and 4 young
children AND a Keziah Kelley (45) Sarah Cato (11). Then again as S!
arah Kato in the 1880 census (40) as a single laborer.
Thank you,
Jessica Buchikos
