(Joan, if you don't get a copy of this via the Cato list along with this
one I'm cc'ing, write back & I'll check the list members to make sure
you're still there)
Everyone else!
I need a few devil's advocates here to give me some feedback on the
following:
--------------------------
ca 1700 generation:
--------------------------
*Stephen Cato Sr. - Bertie Co., NC
*John Cato (m. Jane Cooke) - Brunswick Co., VA
*Daniel Cato - Brunswick Co., VA
*George Cato (not the early one we're assuming father to John/Dan'l/Wm)
*William Cato - Brunswick VA to Northampton Co., NC
--------------------------
2nd generation:
--------------------------
Stephen Sr. had following:
*George - Bertie Co > Pitt Co. NC & possibly dies there or goes into MD
- may have son John.
*Winnifret - Bertie Co., prob. married.
*Syrack - Bertie Co. > Johnston Co., NC. Dies there 2 years before Henry
Cato shows up in Johnston Co., so good chance not related to each other.
No children?
*Francis - Bertie Co. > Martin Co. > possibly to GA. Son Cullen
apparently gets killed in LA in War of 1812. Dau. Penelope m. in Martin
Co. Either son or brother George in Martin Co. with him. Francis Jr.
(prob. son) & wife Alse move to GA & hence the Francis line there.
*Stephen Jr. - Bertie Co. > Pitt > Halifax > SC
William of Fairfield's line from here.
--------------------------
2nd generation, cont.
--------------------------
John, Dan'l, Geo., Wm. all brothers & probable different family from
Stephen Sr.
*John - will go into in another e-mail! Children include Henry,
Sterling...
*Dan'l - been covered in numerous e-mails in the past
*William - Northampton Co., NC Sons John & George who go to Sumpter Co.,
SC
*George - m to Mary Poole 1st & Martha Beamon 2nd. Norfolk? > Dobbs,
Wayne & Sampson Co., NC - Son John is only child & marries Judah & has
children John & George who are raised in Norfolk Co., VA after John's
death. Probable John (George's son) who is shown in Cumberland Co. in
jail (dies there?) & hence George's "disinheriting" the grandchildren.
John Jr. is probably the father of the line that goes to Wilson Co., TN
& then to IL & then to Washington, Co., AR.
What do y'all think????
