I would suspect that your George Cato was the son of George
Cato Sr., son of John Cato and his second wife Elizabeth Nanny who
died in 1795 in Brunswick Co., Va. with a will dated 1788. George
moved to Sumter Co., S.C. and died there with a will dated 1806. It
is not clear when he died. I think that the census records of S.C.
relative to this family need to be re-read. I think that what is
given on the Cato home page relative to this family in the census
records is all mixed up.To follow is a write up I have on this family.

Claremont Co., S.C.), received a grant of 300 acres on Rafting Ck.,
Camden Dist., S.C. 1/2/1786, made a will dated 5/23/1806, proven
9/28/1824, named wife Judith and all of the children listed below.
She was to have all and then the estate was to be distributed at her
death to the children as stated in the will. She died in 1821 and the
will was probated after her death.
