above that line made in the presence of BURREL CATO, George Walton Jr, and
Thomas Walton; Beginning at a red oak tree just by Ledbetter's old path,
afore and aff tree of my outside line, and so along a line of marked trees
to a small red oak on the swamp side, and up the various courses of the

"...unto my son Henry Wallton...the plantation whereupon my Father lived,
to include both sides of Quarrel Swamp as far as a branch on the north side
of the said swamp, known by the name of the Tarr Kiln Branch."
>>this Wallton family lived near Burrell Cato, d 1769, in
Brunswick Co.
The John Wallton and George Wallton, executors of Burrell's will,
are of
this family. Also, the Angelica Wallton who was witness to Burrell's will.

....."ITEM: it is my desire that my son DANIEL be immediately bound to John
Rogers, bricklayer; provided he will give him sufficient learning and such
necessarys as the Law requires.
ITEM: It is my desire that my son DAVID be immediately bound to STERLING
CATO, Taylor; on the same conditions."........
I would imagine that this Sterling Cato, Taylor, is the Sterling grandson
of Henry Cook, son of John and Jane Cator, wouldn't you? If he was
established as a Taylor in 1770, able to take on an apprentice, does this
imply anything about his age in 1770? Also, I wondered if information
might be found in some obscure book on the history of tailoring in early
Va, if one exists.
Here is the Wallton descendancy (from' The Walltons of Brunswick County VA;
Descendants of George and Elizabeth Rowe Wallton' by Joe C. Tinney, 1983):
Generation 1:
George Wallton c 1680-1765 m c 1704 Elizabeth Rowe c 1685-1775
Generation 2:
2-1 Mary Walton m Richard Ledbetter Jr son of Richd Sr and Hannah
2-2 John Walton m Rebecca (Roe)
2-3 Elizabeth Walton m Adam Sims Jr
2-4 Catherine Walton m Nathan Harris 1737: 14 children (I don't know if or
how this Harris fits in with the Patience Harris m to Daniel Cato)
2-5 Isaac Rowe Walton m Elizabeth Ledbetter dau of Henry and Edith
There is a map locating the land of the Walltons and Ledbetters (and thus
the land of Burrell Cato d 1769) in this book. Unfortunately, I do not
have all of the book, but only a few copied pages. We should probably
search it more thoroughly. It does contain some letters between
Walton/Wyche descendants in Ga and in Virginia in the 1800s which mention
an Aunt Martha Cato.
