Adruain:
Thanks for your note, and thanks for your work on the CATOS.
My REBECCA CATO married Andrew Jackson WILEY in Pope County, AR (Pulaski
CO?) abt. 1859, d. 1907, is buried in the Wiley Cemetery at Appleton,
AR., with her mother and husband, and lots more descendant Wileys. This
WILEY cemetery is about 2 miles south-west of the CATO cemetery north of
Jerusalem, AR. (In Conway Co. or Van Buren Co., the line is close and I
don't have my USGS map here).
I'm sure Rebecca is the same Rebecca noted in the 1860 census:
Needham CATO - 643 - Pulaski
wife Anna, 59, NC
2 children same as 1850 census, Thomas Ettards is one.
"next door to Needham is Jackson WILEY, 25, AR., REBECCA,
19, Julia A., 2 mo".
My grandfather, 11th child of Andrew Jackson Wiley and Rebecca CATO
Wiley, is NEEDHAM Frank Wiley, his oldest sibling is Julie, born 1859.
I'm a little confused, because the 1850 census has:
Nelson CATO - 366 - Pulaski
wife ANNE, 49, NC
dau. REBECCA, 9,f,Ar.
other children, incl. Thomas Ettards
The ages and dates are OK, just the change from NELSON to NEEDHAM.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. I have some downstream data on Thomas
Ettards CATO, as well as the Wileys.
I'm sure you have seen the Conway County publication, with George W. CATO
and John CATO families chronicled there.
There is someone in Murietta, GA. (a cousin of my aunt) who is very
interested, and I'll try to lead her to the home page and list.
Thanks
Vance Wiley
