The big problem with trying to get records that I
Have run into is that Wilson, Chapman and Nathan were
citizens not soldiers. I assume they were political
prisoners or were captured because of their
ownership of slaves or their ties with family that
did own slaves. I looked at the records of other
Cato's that served in the war and found nothing that
linked them with any families. In St Louis I looked at the
following:
Benjiman Cato
Henry Cato
James H Cato
Joseph Cato
Lathiel Cato
Nathan Cato
Nathan L Cato
Nathaniel Cato
Richard Cato
William Cato
William R Cato
By the way I did find this interesting tidbit:
H Cato enlisted Ark surrendered 11 May 1865
paroled Wittsburg Ark 5-25-1865 Age 19
Eyes Brown--Hair dark--Complexion Dark
5' 6" Tall--Born Mo.
